Then we go to Nara, and learn (I think) that you should not feed the deers.

Snow fun in Shirakawago!

We visit the UNESCO listed village of Shirakawago for a farm stay in a traditional thatched farmhouse!

Nothing like coming back home to a hot meal. Gorgeous food served by the our hostess - salted fish, with local herbs and home grown soy beans and rice!

Koyasan

Here we are in the Mt Koyasan region for a temple stay. So cool to see where the monks live, and to stay in this very old temple.


Here is our room - the monks come and set up food or beds and take them away again with mechanical speed and efficiency!

Drowsy from soaking in the super hot temple Onsens, we don our Yukatas and tuck in to the amazing vegetarian meal laid out for us in our room!
